How do I get access to Grok Bot?
On The X Subscription, Grok Bot is included on Premium, Super, and Ultra, for individuals and for team seats. Plus and Free don't include it. On legacy Cursor plans, Grok Bot access is included on every paid individual plan and on Cursor Teams. You can also grant usage to a legacy Cursor account by linking an individual SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, SuperGrok Heavy, or X Premium+ subscription, or by signing in with a Grok account that has an assigned seat on a self-serve Grok Business plan.
| Situation | What to do | Grok Bot usage |
|---|---|---|
| You're on Premium, Super, or Ultra on The X Subscription | Sign in to Grok Bot with the same account. Access is included. | Draws from your shared weekly pool. Super and Ultra include larger pools |
| You're on Plus or Free on The X Subscription | Grok Bot is not included. Upgrade to Premium or higher at grok.com/dashboard/billing. | Not included |

| You have an assigned seat on a self-serve Grok Business plan | Sign out of Grok Bot, then sign back in with Sign in with Grok using the Grok account that holds the seat. You don't need to buy anything or link from the plan screen. See How do I use a Grok Business seat with Grok Bot?. | Matches the license on your seat: SuperGrok or SuperGrok Heavy |
| You're on Grok Enterprise | Contact your account manager about Grok Bot access. | Managed by your account manager |
| You're on SuperGrok Lite | Grok Bot is not included. Upgrade to SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, or SuperGrok Heavy, then link again. | Not included |
Linking SuperGrok or X Premium+ is a usage grant, not a Cursor plan. Your existing Cursor plan stays in place after linking. A Cursor plan and a link do not add together. Grok Bot uses whichever one grants more weekly usage. See Do Cursor and SuperGrok plans stack?.
How does Grok Bot work on The X Subscription?
On The X Subscription, Grok Bot is one more product on your plan rather than a separate grant.
- Included on Premium, Super, and Ultra. Plus doesn't include Grok Bot. Super and Ultra include larger weekly pools than Premium.
- One shared weekly pool. Grok Bot usage draws from the same weekly pool as Cursor and the Grok apps, not a separate Grok Bot meter. The pool refreshes weekly.
- Top-ups instead of on-demand. When your weekly pool runs out, extra Grok Bot usage is paid from your prepaid credit. Buy credit, turn on Auto Top-up, and set a monthly additional usage limit under Additional usage credits at grok.com/dashboard/billing. See Usage-based charges.
- No linking needed. A SuperGrok or X Premium+ link isn't part of The X Subscription. If you switch from a legacy plan that used a link, your Grok Bot usage comes from the shared pool after the switch.
- Check usage under Usage at grok.com/dashboard.
For what happens to SuperGrok and Grok Bot when you switch, see Grok Bot on The X Subscription. The rest of this page describes legacy Cursor plans and account links.
What's the difference between legacy Pro, Pro+, and Ultra for Grok Bot?
- Pro includes Grok Bot with weekly usage, below the Pro+ tier.
- Pro+ includes Grok Bot with generous weekly usage, below the Ultra tier.
- Ultra includes Grok Bot with the highest weekly usage.
Pro, Pro+, and Ultra all sign in to Grok Bot the same way: use the same Cursor account. You can still upgrade within those legacy Cursor plans. Moving from Pro+ to Ultra raises included Grok Bot usage to the Ultra tier.
Do I need a separate Grok Bot subscription?
No. Access is included with Premium, Super, or Ultra on The X Subscription, with legacy Cursor Pro, Cursor Pro+, Cursor Ultra, or a legacy Cursor Teams seat, through an individual SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, SuperGrok Heavy, or X Premium+ account link, or with an assigned seat on a self-serve Grok Business plan.
Does joining a Cursor Teams plan require a Premium seat for Grok Bot?
No. On a self-serve Cursor Teams plan, every member gets Grok Bot on their Cursor account. On a team on The X Subscription, every paid seat (Premium, Super, or Ultra) includes it. On a legacy Teams plan, admins do not need to assign a Premium seat, and members do not need to request access.
Grok Bot usage draws from the seat's usage allowance. On legacy Teams plans, on-demand usage is enabled by default. See Team pricing for seat allowances and additional usage details.
How does Grok Bot usage work?
On The X Subscription, see How does Grok Bot work on The X Subscription?. On legacy Cursor plans and account links, paid Grok Bot access includes weekly usage, shown as Weekly usage limit. That included grant resets weekly. When it runs out, extra Grok Bot usage can continue as On-demand usage if on-demand is enabled. That extra usage is billed through Cursor and counts toward the On-demand monthly limit. See What do the plan and spending screens call usage? and How does the on-demand monthly limit apply to Grok Bot?.
Grok Bot usage is metered on your Cursor account, not on Grok or X. A SuperGrok or X Premium+ link grants Grok Bot usage on that same Cursor account while SuperGrok or X Premium+ stays active. It does not create a second meter on Grok or X, and it does not change your Cursor plan. If you also have a Cursor plan that includes Grok Bot, the two do not add together. Grok Bot uses whichever one grants more weekly usage. See Do Cursor and SuperGrok plans stack?.
How does the Grok Bot free trial work and how do I use it efficiently?
The Grok Bot free trial is a usage credit rather than a set number of days, though a 7-day window also applies.
The credit is drawn down by how much work your agents do, measured by agent steps and tokens rather than the number of messages you send. Larger or longer agent jobs use more, so how far the credit goes depends on how you use it.
To make your trial credit go further:
- Start small and scope tasks tightly, then scale up once you see how much each task uses.
- Check your usage on the plan screen before running large or long agent jobs.
Is Grok Bot usage shared between macOS and iOS?
Yes. macOS and iOS share a single usage bucket tied to your signed-in Cursor account. Both apps call the same backend, so usage you see on Mac is the same quota shown on iOS.
What if my trial ran out during a single run?
The trial is a usage credit, so a large or long-running agent task can use most or all of it at once. This is expected, and used trial credit is not restored or topped up.
To keep using Grok Bot, upgrade to Premium, Super, or Ultra on The X Subscription, or on a legacy Cursor account upgrade to Cursor Pro, Cursor Pro+, Cursor Ultra, or a Cursor Teams plan, or link an individual SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, SuperGrok Heavy, or X Premium+ account. If you have a seat on a self-serve Grok Business plan, sign out and sign back in with Sign in with Grok using that Grok account.
See How do I get access to Grok Bot?. To make the credit go further, see How does the Grok Bot free trial work and how do I use it efficiently?.
If a run failed with an error rather than an unsatisfying result, report it by following Report a bug.
What happens to my Cursor plan when I link SuperGrok or X Premium+?
Linking SuperGrok or X Premium+ is a usage grant, not a Cursor plan. It doesn't change or cancel your Cursor plan.
- If you already pay for Cursor Pro, Pro+, or Ultra, that subscription stays in place after linking.
- If you're on a Cursor Teams seat, the seat stays in place after linking.
- If you had no Cursor plan before linking, you still don't, and Grok Bot usage comes from the SuperGrok or X Premium+ grant alone.
A SuperGrok or X Premium+ link is permanent once created. You can't unlink or move it to a different Cursor account, so sign in with the correct Cursor account before linking. See Link SuperGrok for Grok Bot for the linking steps.
Do Cursor and SuperGrok plans stack?
No. A Cursor plan and a SuperGrok or X Premium+ link do not add together. Grok Bot uses whichever one grants more weekly usage.
Pro, SuperGrok, and X Premium+ are the same tier. Pro+ and SuperGrok Plus are the same tier. Ultra and SuperGrok Heavy are the same tier.
- If you are on Pro and link SuperGrok Plus, Grok Bot moves to the Plus tier.
- If you are on Pro+, linking SuperGrok Plus does not add Grok Bot usage. They are the same tier.
- If you already have SuperGrok Heavy linked, purchasing Cursor Ultra does not add Grok Bot usage.
- If you are on Ultra, linking any SuperGrok plan or X Premium+ does not add Grok Bot usage.
- A Grok Business seat works the same way as a SuperGrok link. It does not add together with a Cursor plan or a SuperGrok link. Grok Bot uses whichever one grants more.
You can also upgrade within Cursor plans. Moving from Pro+ to Ultra raises included Grok Bot usage to the Ultra tier.
Your Cursor subscription and your SuperGrok or X Premium+ subscription can both stay active and keep billing on their own. Buying one does not cancel the other. Only the usage grants do not combine.
When your Weekly usage limit runs out, keep going with on-demand usage if it is enabled on your Cursor account. On-demand is how you get more Grok Bot usage past the included grant. If you subscribed in the iOS or Android app, enable on-demand on the web. See On-demand usage for mobile subscriptions.
What do the plan and spending screens call usage?
Grok Bot Settings and the Cursor dashboard use different names for the same two pools.
- Weekly usage limit on desktop and the phone is included usage. It resets weekly. If a SuperGrok plan funds it, a SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, or SuperGrok Heavy name in Manage Plan is the linked grant, not a second Cursor plan.
- On-demand usage in Grok Bot is extra usage after weekly usage runs out. The row says Billed through Cursor.
- On-demand monthly limit in Grok Bot is the cap on that extra usage. On the web, the same cap is Spending and Monthly Limit.
Included weekly usage is not the monthly limit. Using up weekly usage does not stop Grok Bot if on-demand is on.
What if I upgrade SuperGrok after I already linked?
The grant follows the SuperGrok or X Premium+ plan on the linked account, but the Grok Bot screen can keep showing the old tier for a while.
If you upgrade SuperGrok to SuperGrok Plus or SuperGrok Heavy after linking, keep using Grok Bot. Allow up to 24 hours for the Weekly usage limit to move to the new tier. You do not need to link again, and you cannot unlink to force a refresh.
A Cursor plan bought while you wait does not add to the link. Grok Bot uses whichever one grants more weekly usage. See Do Cursor and SuperGrok plans stack?.
If the old tier is still shown after 24 hours, contact support with the Cursor account email, the Grok account email, and a screenshot of Weekly usage limit.
How does the on-demand monthly limit apply to Grok Bot?
Grok Bot draws from your Weekly usage limit first. When that included grant runs out, extra Grok Bot usage continues on on-demand if it is enabled. That extra usage counts toward the On-demand monthly limit in Grok Bot, which is the same cap as Monthly Limit on the web.
To turn it on or change it:
- In Grok Bot, open Settings > Usage & Billing and find On-demand monthly limit. Choose Enable if it is off.
- If Grok Bot asks for a card, finish that on the web. In a browser, go to cursor.com/dashboard, open Spending, and set Monthly Limit.
- If you subscribed in the iOS or Android app, set that limit on the web. See On-demand usage for mobile subscriptions.
A limit is not a hard stop in the middle of a run. A bot already working can finish past the monthly limit. After that, on-demand stops until you raise the limit or the billing cycle resets. Leaving the limit unchanged does not add more included weekly usage.
If on-demand is off, Grok Bot stops when weekly usage runs out. The screen says you have reached your Grok Bot usage limit, and it resets with weekly usage.
What happens if I downgrade or my Teams seat changes?
A downgrade or a seat change changes which single grant Grok Bot uses. It does not stack with another plan.
- Downgrading SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, or SuperGrok Heavy lowers the linked grant after the same refresh window, up to 24 hours. Usage already spent this week still counts. If you are already past the new tier, further included usage stops. On-demand continues only if it is enabled.
- Downgrading a Cursor plan, such as Ultra to Pro+, changes the Cursor weekly usage the same way. If you also have a SuperGrok link, Grok Bot uses whichever of the two now grants more.
- On a self-serve Teams plan, Grok Bot follows the seat you are on. A higher seat can raise weekly usage. A lower seat lowers it. You do not need a separate SuperGrok link. A link does not add to the seat. Grok Bot uses whichever one grants more.
- If an admin removes your Teams seat, the Teams grant ends. A SuperGrok or X Premium+ link already on that Cursor account does not turn into a larger grant, and it does not restore the Teams allowance.
- If your Grok Business admin removes your seat, or changes its license, Grok Bot usage from the seat ends or changes to match.
Request-based Teams plans and Enterprise seats do not take a personal SuperGrok link. Those plans keep Grok Bot on the Cursor contract.
How do I cancel my Grok Bot trial?
There is no charge to cancel, and the Grok Bot trial never becomes a paid plan.
Cancel Trial appears on free-plan accounts. On a paid plan or Teams seat, the trial ends on its own and there's nothing to cancel.
Use Cancel Trial on the plan screen. That ends the trial right away, removes any remaining trial credit, and you can't claim the trial again.
If you're on a free plan and Cancel Trial doesn't appear or the cancel doesn't take effect, contact support.
How do I cancel a free trial I started in the iOS app?
An App Store intro offer is different from the Grok Bot usage-credit trial. Apple runs it, and it turns into a paid Apple subscription when the trial ends unless you cancel first.
Cancel in Apple ID → Subscriptions before the trial ends. See Apple's guide to viewing and canceling subscriptions. For refunds on an Apple in-app charge, use Apple's Subscriptions and billing support. Cursor can't cancel or refund an Apple in-app trial or subscription for you.
See How do I manage or cancel a mobile subscription?. Android has no in-app trial.
How do refunds work for Grok Bot?
Grok Bot does not have a separate subscription, so it does not have a separate refund path.
The X Subscription. Paid access is part of your Premium, Super, or Ultra plan. Refunds follow Invoices & Refunds in the SpaceXSI documentation. Prepaid credit you've already spent isn't refundable.
Legacy Cursor plans. Paid access is billed through your Cursor plan (Pro, Pro+, or Ultra). Subscription refund eligibility follows Refunds.
These Cursor charges are not refundable:
- On-demand usage Grok Bot has already consumed
- Mid-cycle downgrades with usage (no prorated refund)
Store purchases. Cursor can't refund in-app store charges:
- iOS: Apple's Subscriptions and billing support
- Google Play: Google Play's refund support
SuperGrok, Grok Business, and X Premium+. Qualifying Grok accounts are individual SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, SuperGrok Heavy, X Premium+, and assigned seats on a self-serve Grok Business plan. Those subscriptions are billed by xAI or X, not Cursor.
- SuperGrok: see xAI's FAQ
- X Premium+: contact X for refunds
